1月23日是中国、韩国、越南等12个亚洲国家的农历新年，哥伦比亚国际学院的部分学生来到汉密尔顿市政厅，与市长Bob Bratina及市民共庆春节。
本月初，市长助理就邀请我校学生前往市政厅共庆春节。新年这一天，哥伦比亚的年级长团队前往市政厅进行节日装饰，合唱团还表演了脍炙人口的中国歌曲《同一首歌》。
滑冰滑雪活动安排加拿大的漫长冬季带来的不仅是寒冷的天气，还为运动爱好者提供了运动健身的良机。本月的学生活动就鼓励大家不畏严寒，参与加拿大传统的冬季体育项目。学生发展部为此安排了滑冰与滑雪活动。

欢迎来到哥伦比亚这个国际大家庭！我们的六个宿舍为学生提供全面的住校生活服务：Linden Hall (女生), Motherhouse (女生), Pine Hall (男生), Oak Hall (男生), Arkledun (男生) 与Crowne Plaza (男/女生) 。宿舍总监是Shaoshan Yu先生。
每个宿舍都有宿舍总监助理（Assistant Residence Director）与 舍监（Hall Master）。16岁以下的住校生由生活辅导老师（House Parent）直接照料。如果你对住校生活有任何问题，请随时向他们咨询。
寒假旅行与活动安排（2011年12月）2011年寒假期间，哥伦比亚国际学院为留在学校的国际学生安排了丰富的活动。每个宿舍的前台均提供所有活动的详细报名资料，同学们也可以致电学生发展部（Student Development Office）了解情况：（905） 572-7883 分机2723。所有活动开始前30分钟，宿舍都将用广播提醒。

Terry Fox组织表彰哥伦比亚30多年支持公益11月30日，哥伦比亚国际学院因30多年来支持公益事业获得了Terry Fox长跑组织的表彰。该组织的代表Page Johnson为我校颁发了六面锦旗，分别代表5、10、15、25、30年的积极参与。
每年，安大略省超过4000所学校的师生参加Tery Fox长跑，只有6所学校获得表彰。哥伦比亚国际学院至多年来筹款总额高达$83,000加元，这一荣誉归于所有在校及毕业生。
我校顶尖成功学生Stephanie Luk是个文静的女生，她的气质给见到她的每一个人都留下了深刻印象。Luk仅用了短短9个月的时间便完成了她在哥伦比亚的学习，她的人生因此而改变。Luk以谦虚的态度对待自己所取得的成就。在哥伦比亚学习期间，Luk从一个对未来毫无打算的年轻女孩，蜕变成了一名有志成为一名护士、将毕生精力用于帮助他人的年轻人。
探寻全新开始
成功第二次机会Suhashini Rajkumar是我校2010年5月毕业生。她是“第二次成功”的典范。Rajkumar于2009年秋季学期进入哥伦比亚学习。在此之前，她的梦想是进入麦克马斯特大学，这个梦想对于当时的她而言似乎很难实现。时至今日，她的美梦已经成真。Rajkumar将于今年秋天进入她梦寐以求的麦克马斯特大学学习。
成功之旅2010年5月毕业生陈岸是一个谦逊的年轻人，他充满自信与梦想。他希望改变世界，因此他从改变自我做起。陈岸是毕业班学生中的佼佼者，他的故事印证了刻苦的学习和坚定的决心总会得到回报。2008年的秋天，陈岸向父母保证：他会成功的。他信守承诺，并也已被多所世界名牌大学所录取，包括他计划攻读会计本科学位的波士顿大学。
机遇千载难逢
哥伦比亚国际学院学生被世界顶尖大学录取2010年4月1日，我校学生徐夏喆（Tracy Xu）同学的思绪完全被大学包围着。上课时，她满怀兴奋而焦虑的复杂心情，心中只有一个念头——立即回家打开电脑。徐夏喆的未来被添上了新的一笔，她正焦急地等待时钟走到下午4点。因为在4点，她就能知道自己是否已被梦寐以求的大学所录取。
今年，大学所收到的申请数量已创纪录。事实证明，今年顶尖大学的入学竞争空前激烈。徐夏喆明白自己是一名优秀学生，但是她并不知道自己所申请的大学中，哪所大学会给予她2010年9月的录取资格。她很快就能找到答案。

Melody Yang
Melody completed the 10-month Pre-U program and graduated in 1999. While at Columbia, she entered several Math Competitions and won awards. She entered the Electrical Engineering program at McMaster and completed in 2003. She was recently accepted to the MBA program at Oxford University. Her interests are dancing, playing the piano, team and individual sports. She summarizes her experience at Columbia:
“The teachers at CIC are venerable teachers and great friends, who aside from the academic aspects also provide guidance for other aspects of my life. Columbia’s Total Care program helped me to settle down and adjust well to life in a new country.”
