English Summer Camp Program

Learn English and Discover Canada

Columbia's English Summer Camp is for international students who want to learn English as a Second Language (ESL) during their summer holidays. As one of the largest international summer camps in Canada, teen campers come from over 12 countries around the world including Venezuela, Korea, Mexico, China, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.

International summer camp students have opportunities to learn English in class as well as on cultural trips to various parts of Ontario and Canada. Students will also experience the multicultural atmosphere in Toronto, discover the stunning wilderness of Northern Ontario and explore the breathtaking sights and sounds of Eastern Canada.

  • Three or Four weeks

3 Exciting Programs!!!

A: Canada Platinum

This 4-week program features fun and exciting educational activities and trips. It includes 3- or 5- hour ESL classes, half-day trips to historical landmarks around Hamilton and fun evening activities. The highlight of this program is the popular 12-day trip:

  • 3 days & nights in King City (Canada's Wonderland, Vaughn Mills Super Mall)
  • 1 day & night at Niagara Falls
  • 4 days & nights at Bark Lake and
  • 4 days / 3 nights in Eastern Canada (Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa and 1000 Islands in Kingston)

This program is packed with lots of action and fun!

B: Canada Gold

It is a tale of two cities in this exciting program. In this 3-week program you will go on a 4-day tour of the English and French parts of Canada. This program includes 3- or 5-hour ESL classes, half-day trips to historical landmarks around Hamilton as well as evening and weekend activities. Students will:

Explore Ottawa and the 1000 Islands in Kingston

Tour Montreal and enjoy a shopping trip in one of the world's fashion capitals

Visit and be amazed at the magnificent architecture of the Canada's oldest city, Quebec City

Develop leadership skills and expand their comfort zone as they participate in the adrenaline charged activities at Bark Lake

C: Canada Silver

Experience more of Hamilton and the Greater Toronto Area with this 3-week program. This program includes 3- or 5- hour ESL classes, half-day trips to historical landmarks around Hamilton and exciting evening and weekend activities. Students will enjoy the pristine lake view, the plant and animal life and adrenaline packed activities at Bark Lake. Under the guidance of certified instructors at Bark Lake, students will participate in:

  • High Ropes and Low Ropes
  • Archery
  • Canoeing and Kayaking
  • Swimming

All summer camp programs include:

1. English Classes

  • Small interactive classes of 15 to 20 boys and girls
  • Beginner to Advanced ESL levels
  • Taught by certified teachers
  • English Language Labs for summer campers to practise speaking and listening skills
  • Enhance English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening
  • 15 to 30 hours per week

2. Half-day Trips

Cultural half-day trips to visit historical landmarks in Hamilton, Ontario and the surrounding areas:

  • McMaster University Walking Tour
  • Westdale Village Walking Tour
  • Dundurn Castle Tour
  • Canadian Native Village Tour (Crawford Lake)

3. Full-day Trips

Trips to Canadian landmark attractions are scheduled Saturdays, Sundays and long-weekend Mondays for summer campers

  • Canada's Wonderland
  • Medieval Times
  • CN Tower
  • Marineland and more

4. Evening Activities

The fun never ends! Summer campers will participate in evening recreational activities and trips:

  • Cinema
  • Mini-Putting Golf
  • Wagner's Beach
  • Burlington Tour
  • Shopping, Hiking and more

5. Half-day Activities

Arts
Under the guidance of Arts instructors, summer campers will have opportunities to express their creative side through various arts and craft projects such as painting, designing face masks, dream catchers, etc.

Computers
Discover and explore the world of computers through building robots, and learning cool techniques using Photoshop and other fun software programs!

Science
Test the law of physics by launching plastic bottle rockets and use scientific methods to actually make apple pie and ice cream! You never knew science could be so much fun!

Sports
Learn and play some new Canadian sports such as lacrosse and baseball and some familiar sports. All sports and recreational activities are professionally coordinated to encourage full participation of all summer campers regardless of their athletic ability.

  • 2 self-paid meals for campers' convenience
    • On the Wonderland trip, due to the large size of the amusement park and the various interests of our summer campers, they are required to buy their own lunch and dinner at a time that is convenient for them
