Hamilton: A Great Place To Call Home

Visit Hamilton

Described as a big city with a small-town heart, Hamilton is a welcoming and peaceful community that combines the best of nature and culture, urban living and rural escape. It has internationally recognized schools, excellent health care, thriving businesses, a vibrant arts community, friendly residents, a moderate climate and beautiful natural areas. Nestled between the sandy shores of Lake Ontario and the forests of the Niagara Escarpment (which is a World Biosphere Reserve), the city has been nicknamed the waterfall capital of the world.

Tourism Hamilton

With a population of just over 500,000 people—almost a quarter of whom were born outside Canada—Hamilton is both the third largest city and third most popular destination for newcomers in Ontario. The diverse neighbourhoods, restaurants, shopping and cultural events in the city make it an exciting and inspiring place to live. And it is centrally located only an hour away from both Toronto and Niagara Falls.

Columbia International College enriches the cultural landscape of the city with its students, who come from more than 70 countries across the globe. At the same time, Columbia’s students benefit from the welcoming and safe atmosphere of the city and the opportunity to explore both its urban and natural side.

City of Hamilton

The mayor of Hamilton is a fan of Columbia, too.

Columbia International College has been an integral part of our city for the past 35 years. Its staff and students have made significant contributions to build up the City of Hamilton through volunteering their time and resources. The Total Care Education® students receive at Columbia makes them responsible citizens who care about, and positively impact this City.

We are pleased to be home to Canada’s largest private boarding high school and look forward to welcoming many more international students to this beautiful City.
