Elisa Chio, Grade 10 student from Mexico, shares how CIC’s Total Care+ program has been a game-changer for under-16 students like her, offering much-needed support for her academic, personal, and social growth.

Through Total Care+, she’s not only gaining valuable skills for the future but also finding a second home away from home.

Elisa :

Being an international student can be exciting, but also challenging. One of the hardest things, especially for younger students, is feeling homesick. That is why it is important to take care of your physical and mental health. Another big challenge is the language barrier, but it’s worth putting in the effort to overcome it.

The Total Care+ program helps students connect and create a sense of belonging. It is a place where you can talk freely without worrying about being judged and share how you feel. I am so thankful to Total Care+ for making my first semester at CIC such a great experience. I made amazing friends and created memories I’ll never forget.

During the last semester, the Total Care+ team organized memorable activities for us, including a visit to McDonald’s, an escape room challenge, and a relaxing trip to the park during our fourth period. These experiences not only allowed me to make new friends but also helped me recognize the various skills my team and I applied in the escape room. We relied heavily on problem-solving, teamwork, and communication to succeed; which made the experience both enjoyable and educational!
