The aromas filled the halls today as Grade 11 and 12 Hospitality and Tourism students at Columbia International College (CIC) successfully executed a live culinary showcase, bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world experience.

As part of their curriculum, students practiced preparing and presenting food products in a variety of ways.

Each student selected their own recipe within the parameters of class time, ingredient availability, and their individual skill level.

By inviting other classes to attend, they applied best practices in administration and event management while executing a live special event.

From designing marketing posters to promoting their dishes and gathering feedback from peers, students demonstrated creativity, organization, and professionalism throughout.

Moreover, through these hands-on experiences, students build confidence by introducing their work to an audience, explaining their ideas, and engaging with their peers.

They strengthen their communication skills, develop leadership and teamwork, and gain the self-assurance needed to present themselves and their work with pride
