Literacy activity schedule

The 2015 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) is quickly approaching!

Scheduled for March 26, the test will measure students’ reading and writing skills. Columbia has already begun preparing students as teachers and tutors are working to ensure they earn a successful grade. There will also be a series of literacy activities and workshops leading up to the test date. Starting in February, each academic department will dedicate a week to literacy activities within their curriculum; Feb. 2-6: Science department Feb. 9-12: Social Sciences department Feb. 16-20: Business department Feb. 23-28: Math department

Literacy workshops will also be held February 17-27 where students will be able to practice their skills, ask questions and participate in mock test sessions.

More about the OSSLT The OSSLT measures student’s reading and writing skills by testing their ability to understand, interpret, and apply the diverse concepts and material. As a provincial initiative administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office–EQAO, the Test promotes lifelong learning by developing skills that are needed for success. All students who study in Ontario must successfully write the test in order to obtain their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
