Grad photosColumbia is thrilled to announce that six of its 2013/2014 graduates have been accepted into one of the world’s most selective engineering programs; Engineering Science at the University of Toronto.

The “EngSci” program attracts top students from over 19 countries and is “one of the most selective and advanced engineering programs offered in the world.”

Ji, Yuhao, Liu, Zheqi, Ma, Simiao , Zhang, Bohan, Zhang, Bokun (not pictured), and Xu, Beibei were accepted to this prestigious program.

Five of the six students have chosen to attend the program and will begin their studies in September.

Program details Engineering Science at the University of Toronto is academically demanding and has a class entering average of 94%. Before selecting a major, students learn the foundations of engineering and science in their first two years. The Engineering Science program, like Columbia’s Total Care Education System®, is also focused on extracurricular involvement and aims to develop well-rounded global citizens.

The program’s “2+2” curriculum structure means that the first two years of study will focus on foundation curriculum and the last two years will be composed of specialization curriculum. Other unique program features to note are listed below: • The program is designed and delivered at a level that is more academically demanding; • The Engineering Science program contains more mathematics, science and engineering science, with greater focus on deriving results using a first principles approach; • All students are required to complete an independent research-based thesis project.
