Class spelling bee practiceColumbia’s Junior Middle School students practiced their English vocabulary skills yesterday afternoon as they participated in a mini Spelling Bee competition. One by one, students were asked to spell out a number of challenging words in front of their peers and three judges; Mrs. Wilkinson, Mrs. Willison, and Mrs. Olthof-Youn.

The competition’s was held not only to promote next week’s Literacy Day, but also to determine finalists who will attend the Rotary Club of Ancaster’s Spelling Bee on November 29 at Mohawk College.

Those students chosen to attend will compete against other grade 7 and 8 students from the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board for a chance to win the Spelling Bee and a number of individual and school prizes.

We will reveal the results of the Ancaster Spelling Bee on December 1, 2014!
