Literacy week 2015

As Columbia students prepare to write the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT), their teachers are continuing to aid their preparation by holding additional literacy workshops and hosting fun literacy activities.

All week, students will have the opportunity to participate in Literacy Week’sthemed days designed to promote and encourage literacy among students;

Date      Event    Details
Monday, March 9 Read my shirt day Wear a shirt that has English words on it (no swearing or inappropriate language allowed). Uniform pants must be worn.
Tuesday, March 10 SQUIRT DAY- Super quiet uninterrupted individual reading time 15 min of uninterrupted individual reading time during homeroom.
Wednesday, March 11 Bookmark Day Make a bookmark in your free period in the Living Wall Lounge.
Thursday March 12 Read in your free time Hang out in the study room (Room 121AB) and read a magazine or newspaper or book. Hot drinks will be provided.
Friday March 13 Message board display Write encouraging and positive messages about the upcoming literacy test on a display board in the Living Wall Lounge.
All students are encouraged to participate!
