Throughout the month of April, Columbia’s leadership classes partnered with our Sodexo team to raise awareness for a critical issue affecting millions of people worldwide, hunger.

Members of the leadership team helped promote school activities and events to the school community in support of Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Servathonfundraising campaign. Selling treats during the lunch hours and holding raffles were among the many ways students contributed to the campaign.

Thanks to the efforts of students, staff and Sodexo, Columbia raised a total of$5746 by holding the following events
• Easter Basket Draw
• Give a Hand To Stop Hunger
• Candy Apples
• Cotton Candy
• Bubble tea
• Ice Cream with a Heart
• Casual Day
• 50/50 Draw

The leadership classes also held a Home Room Food Drive Challenge and asked students to donate non-perishable food items. Ms. Milicevic’s ESLEO class was this year’s winner as they collected more than 1000 pounds of non-perishable items, costing an estimated $600. In total, the school collected 3272 pounds of food which provided:
• 120 breakfast meals for local children’s Breakfast Club programs
• 600 meals packed for Food4Kids

In total, the leadership and Sodexo teams volunteered a total of 565 hours.

Columbia would like to thank the Sodexo team and all the students and staff who contributed, and participated in the Servathon.
