CIC Students Exempted from Hotel Quarantine
It was announced by the Canadian Government in February 2021 that international students arriving in Canada alone from another country are exempted from having to quarantine in a hotel.
CIC students under the age of 22 arriving in Canada alone meet the criteria stated under the Canadian Government’s Orders in Council 2021-0075 Section 3, Subsection (1.2) (a) of being an unaccompanied dependent child, and are therefore exempt from the hotel stopover portion of the quarantine.
On Arrival to the Port of Entry
CIC students are provided with supporting documents from our Admissions Office for presentation to the Canadian Border Service Agency officials at the port of entry. Upon arrival at the airport:
- Students will receive a free COVID-19 test and a test kit to use in 10 days
- Students will then proceed to the CIC Residence designated for quarantine.

CIC Planning for Full In-Person Learning in Fall 2021
With the vaccine roll out picking up speed in Ontario and the rest of Canada, we are now looking forward, with confidence and optimism, to re–opening our campus for full in-person learning in August 2021.
Columbia International College is actively planning for the safe return to a full in-person curricular and extracurricular schedule for students at our campus in Hamilton, Ontario.
Remote learning options shall remain available to students who are waiting for their Study Permit or living in countries where there is restriction on departure for travelling overseas.
