Empowering Students Through Clubs: Skills, Connections, and Growth

By December 3, 2024December 6th, 2024No Comments

As the Fall Semester comes to a close, we want to take a moment to celebrate all the students who actively participated in various club activities. Through your enthusiasm and dedication, you’ve not only honed new skills but also built meaningful connections, explored your passions, and expanded your potential for the future.

Your efforts have also contributed to a vibrant campus community, inspiring those around you and setting a great example for others.

Business Club

CIC Business Club had some unforgettable moments this semester! The students attended TechTO’s Annual City Hall Networking Event, Canada’s premier gathering for tech and business professionals.

They connected with industry leaders and visionary entrepreneurs and earned from inspiring speakers, including Mayor Olivia Chow and top minds in tech. The out-of-class experience provided them with invaluable lessons on entrepreneurship and what it takes to succeed in today’s dynamic world.

Robotics Club

On Oct 26, CIC Robotics Club (Team 9062) demonstrated outstanding innovation and teamwork at the FIRST Robotics Canada Tournament in Windsor, Ontario. Competing with Baguette, the widest FRC-legal robot ever built, our students pushed the boundaries of creativity and sharpened their computer-aided design skills in the process.

Team 9062 entered three robots into the tournament. Our primary robot, Conductor, placed 2nd in the elimination bracket and earned a finalist trophy which can be found in our trophy case out front. Our widest robot, Baguette, ended its run in third place as a defense robot. Our turreting swerve robot, Capacitor, was 6th place at the tournament.

With all three robots advancing to the elimination rounds, this was our most successful tournament yet! We can’t wait to tackle more exciting challenges in 2025.

Music Club

This semester, our Band and Choir, and Music Club members have shown incredible dedication, improving their skills and spreading joy through the power of music.

From harmonious melodies to energetic performances, their hard work has truly touched the hearts of everyone around them.

A shout-out to Music Teacher Mr. Daniel Yustres for inspiring our students, helping them hone their musical skills, and adding a spark of joy to school life for everyone.

Crochet Club

The Crochet Club fundraiser was another amazing success! Students raised nearly $400 for Ronald McDonald House, helping provide a comforting home away from home for families while their child receives care at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Huge shout out to everyone who participated and made this event so impactful!

Cooking Club

This semester, the Culinary Kitchen was buzzing with excitement as many students discovered the joy of cooking and baking! From mastering delicious recipes to experimenting with creative dishes, they honed their culinary skills while having a blast.

A heartfelt Thank You to the amazing teachers and staff who guided these young chefs every step of the way. Thanks to their support, students gained essential life skills and built confidence for an independent future.

Climb Club

Our Climb Club proudly participated in the CN Tower Climb Up in support of United Way! From the excitement leading up to the challenge to proudly celebrating their achievement after reaching the top, these students showcased remarkable determination and teamwork.

What’s more, they raised an impressive $800 for United Way, demonstrating that every effort made a meaningful difference. A well-deserved round of applause for their outstanding dedication and hard work!

Bracelet making Club

To wrap up an amazing year, the Bracelet Making Club hosted a special charity sale under the guidance of Ms. Nishi.  Proceeds from the sale went to support the Ronald McDonald House, raising an incredible $500 to help families in need.

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this meaningful initiative. It’s inspiring to see creativity making a difference in the community!
