At Columbia, we believe the only way to meet a student’s academic, social, emotional and physical needs at school is to offer them a balanced learning experience that gives ample opportunity to develop as whole, responsible and enthusiastic learners today…and adults tomorrow. We achieve balance by offering students many exciting educational opportunities outside of class, including extracurricular activities such as clubs, sports, volunteering, and student leadership positions.

Evening and weekend activities and trips give students some “down time” to relax and socialize while learning about local culture and history. Workshops teach skills for successful living. In the classroom, we practice a balanced assessment of performance where marks are based on a combination of coursework, test marks, classroom participation and a final exam.

ACHIEVING BALANCE EACH SEMESTER.

At Columbia, students develop into people of good character through a balanced schedule of extracurricular events, activities and trips. Many of the programs are developed to match monthly “character building” themes such as respect, fairness and perseverance.
